    First Year Students


    Application Plans for First Year students:

    Early Decision – Deadline November 1

    If Quinnipiac is your first choice school, we encourage you to apply ‘Early Decision’ (ED), which is an option available for applicants to all majors. Early Decision is binding, solidifying your place in the program of your choice and granting you the peace of mind that comes with knowing exactly where you will be next fall.

    Early Action – Deadline November 15

    If you are interested in applying early and hearing early, with no commitment to enroll, you may wish to consider applying Early Action (EA).

    Students applying for admission to the following programs are encouraged to apply Early Action:
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Physical Therapy
    • Physician Assistant
    • Nursing
    Regular Decision– Deadline February 1

    Admissions Requirements:
    • High school transcript
    • Personal essay on a topic of particular meaning and interest to you. The essay should reflect who you are and speak to your values, goals, and aspirations as a student.
    • Letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or other school official
    • 4 years of English
    • 3 years of mathematics (4 years required for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Physician Assistant applicants)
    • 3 or more years of science (4 years required for applicants to the Schools of Nursing and Health Sciences)
    • 2 years of social science and foreign language
    • 3 academic electives

    Quinnipiac is “test optional” for most majors, but we encourage you to share your SAT and/or ACT scores with us if you wish to do so. Find more details below.

    OPTIONAL test scores
    Official test scores are optional if you are applying to majors in:
    • College of Arts and Sciences
    • School of Business
    • School of Communications
    • School of Engineering
    • School of Health Sciences (recommended for some programs)

    RECOMMENDED test scores
    Official test scores are recommended, if available*, if you:
    Would like to be considered for:
    • Accelerated dual-degree programs in biology, business, communications, or economics
    Are applying for:
    • Dual-degree BS/Doctor of Physical Therapy (3+3 and 4+3 tracks) program
    • Dual-degree BS/Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (4+1.5) program
    • School of Nursing

    REQUIRED test scores
    Official test scores are required, if available*, if you:
    • Would like to be considered for the Accelerated Dual-Degree Bachelor's/JD (3+3) program
    • Are applying to the entry-level, Dual-Degree BS/MHS in Physician Assistant (4+27 months) program
    • Have been homeschooled
    International students are required to demonstrate English proficiency.**

    Self-reported test scores
    Scores reported in the testing section of this application (self-reporting) will be considered in the admission decision and scholarship process. If you wish to apply test optional, do not write in your scores on the testing section of your application.
    If you share self-reported test scores on this application, you must arrange to have verified/official test scores (from the College Board or ACT) sent to Quinnipiac University by June 1, if accepted and you plan to enroll. Failure to provide official scores that are consistent with self-reported scores may result in your admission or scholarship being rescinded.

    *Quinnipiac is monitoring the situation around testing restrictions due to COVID-19.


    **International freshman applicants are required to provide proof of secondary school graduation or the equivalent. Our preferred vendor is World Education Services (www.wes.org). Documented English language proficiency is required. You may satisfy this by either completing the ELS Language Center’s intensive level 112 course or achieving satisfactory scores on the TOEFL, IELTS, SAT or ACT.
     

    Accelerated Nursing Applicants

    Designed for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in another discipline, who are interested in pursuing nursing as a second bachelor’s degree. The curriculum builds on your prior educational preparation, and the degree is completed in 12 months, starting in January and August with students concentrating solely on nursing courses.

    Admissions Requirements:

    • BA or BS degree completed prior to the start of the program
    • Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended, whether or not grades were earned
    • Completion of prerequisite coursework within the last five years with a grade of B- or better and completebeforeto entering the accelerated track
    • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (B) for consideration (Please note that admission is competitive and that meeting the minimum admission standards does not guarantee admission)

    • International Applicants:
      • Due to visa compliance rules students on an F1 student visa are not eligible for this program and recommend they consider one of our other great programs.
      • International transfer applicants must provide a course-by-course academic evaluation by a NACES evaluation company.
      • Documented English language proficiency is required. You may satisfy this by either completing the ELS Language Center’s intensive level 112 course or achieving satisfactory scores on the TOEFL or IELTS.
     


    Transfer Students


    Transfer applications are reviewed on a “rolling admission” basis. Completed applications for the Spring term are reviewed starting in late October; applications for the Fall term are reviewed beginning in February (after prior fall term grades are received.)

    Please note: Transfer candidates for radiologic sciences are considered for the fall term only and on a space-available basis. Transfer candidates for nursing are considered for the fall and spring terms on a space-available basis. The deadline for completed applications for these programs for the fall term is March 1. The deadline for nursing applications for the spring term is November 15. (The physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and diagnostic medical sonography programs are not open to transfer students.)

    Admissions Requirements:
    • For most majors, a minimum GPA of 2.5 is expected
    • Official transcripts are required from all colleges attended, whether or not grades were earned. U.S. military veterans should provide a Joint Services transcript
      • All transcripts should be sent to the Undergraduate Admissions Office
    • Official high school transcript with graduation date, unless an awarded AS or AA degree is shown on your college transcript
    • Letter of recommendation
    • Personal essay - Summarize your experiences and why you want to transfer to Quinnipiac
    • International Applicants:  
      • International transfer applicants must provide a course-by-course academic evaluation by a NACES evaluation company.
      • Documented English language proficiency is required. You may satisfy this by either completing the ELS Language Center’s intensive level 112 course or achieving satisfactory scores on the TOEFL, IELTS, SAT or ACT
